St. Helena High School has a rich student life full of a variety of clubs. A club such as Interact outreaches into the community, whereas the French, Mycology, and D&D clubs, are specific communities tailored to students' interests. Some clubs have academic roots, like Creative Writing, Science & Lab, and Book, while others are socially based, such GSA and Podcast & Media. Clubs are a space for students to form communities based on common interests and to expand social circles. You make new friends! Clubs are also a way to acquire and develop a new skill, such as the Fishing and Floral clubs. SHHS is proud to have these clubs and kicks off the school; year with Club Rush in the Quad. At Club Rush, every club has a table with information, treats and prizes to encourage interested students to join.
If you are interested in starting a new club, please click here. If you have any questions, please email Madeline Breazeale, Activities Director.
Book Club is a chill space to hang out and talk about books, especially everyone's favorite. At meetings, members talk about books they’ve read and enjoyed, ones they haven’t enjoyed, and there’s plenty of time for book recommendations. Members may also read the same books at the same time and discuss, but most often everyone is on their own page and reading their own books!

The Creative Writing Club is a space for people who enjoy writing to come together and talk about their work. Or at least get together and pretend that we all write. The Club encourages meaningful discussion of creative writing in all forms, from literature to film and television. In our meetings, we put forth opportunities for recreational writing, such as competitions, challenges, and local publishing spaces. Our club is a way for students to embrace and share different forms of writing, and have some fun in the process.

The Dungeons & Dragons Club is a way for students to hold in-person sessions of the tabletop role playing game Dungeons and Dragons and is an advertisement for like-minded people. There’s even a dice rolling tray passed down from Dungeon Master to Dungeon Master.

The SHHS Fishing Club is for students who enjoy, love, or want to learn about fishing, but it’s also so much more! Each member in our club brings something special to the table. Everyone gets along, has fun together, shares crazy fishing stories, or just crazy stories. So, above simply being a group of people who like to fish, we are a group of friends (who like to fish). And remember, “DON'T FALL UP HILL”.

The Floral Club is where we get to learn about the exciting world of floral design and provide SHHS with its floral needs using our learned skills. Anyone and everyone is welcome here! We meet twice monthly, with one meeting informational/update and the second a fun workshop! Meeting goals are to teach students different floral skills each month with different workshops. Our activities and products benefits many of our school departments, including Athletics, Performing Arts, school dances, awards and graduation events, flower sale fundraisers, floral jewelry, wrapped bouquets, and many more! We strive to have a safe environment where we all feel comfortable with each other and create new friends.

Bonjour! The French Club is an active group of students that celebrates and teaches French culture with fun activities on the first Tuesday of every month! We are the only club that celebrates foreign cultures and languages. Club meetings consist of celebrating holidays as they do in France, like L’Epiphany with a traditional French galette cake. We also try to incorporate tastings to get our members familiar with French cuisine! We strive to promote diversity and inclusion and help people to become more comfortable with foreign languages.

GSA stands for “Gender and Sexuality Alliance.” GSA’s mission is to promote LGBTQIA+ acceptance and support LGBTQIA+ students on campus. We meet every Thursday in “the Closet,” a side room in Mrs. Luhn’s classroom, to talk about how to create more inclusivity in our community. GSA has worked with LGBTQ Connection in Napa to increase LGBTQIA+ presence and representation in St. Helena.

Service Above Self is the motto of Interact. Interact is based around community service, which includes food drives, trail work, clothing drives, and serving and setting up for local events. More than that, it’s a relaxed environment where volunteering is driven by wanting to do it and being able to do it. Some notable moments from Interact’s year so far include collecting 13 barrels of food for this year’s food drive, with “apocalypse-style chocolate milk and powdered soup,” courtesy of the St. Helena Fire Department. We can’t talk about Interact without talking about the Rotary Club. Rotary is an organization of community members whose goal is to make the community a healthier place to live. As an extension of Rotary, Interact is that tailored to young people. Tradition is another keep Interact component, including monthly pizza, raffles for Giugni’s sandwiches, and repping with amazing t-shirts.

The Mycology Club was created to get together to learn about mushrooms, utilize the SHHS Fungi Fridge, and to go on mushroom foraging outings. The Club even has its own mycologist, Miles, a mushroom specialist who attends every meeting he is able! New members are always welcome – meetings are full of fun and fungi.

The Podcast and Media Club is an underground and innovative club at SHHS. This unique club allows for a central space where students can voice their opinion and share their individual thoughts. While students communicate their opinions, there is also valuable information about current global news, local news, events, and various social aspects. Our club founders firmly believe that communication is key to success and that nobody ever got anywhere by staying silent.

The Science and Lab Club creates a fun environment that focuses on labs other than from school curriculum. Members meet in Mr. O’s room to carry out silly projects and lunch together. Meetings include mini lessons followed by small hands-on experiments, such as learning about PVA cross links then making slime. The Club is a place for both science nerds and people who just want to perform fun experiments!
