Student Work Permits

All minor students under 18 years of age employed in the State of California must have a permit to work.

  1. The student must have a job offer prior to being issued a work permit
  2. The student, parent and prospective employer complete an application for a work permit (available below)
  3. The completed and signed application is then delivered to Ms. Cruz at the St. Helena High School Main Office, and she issues the permit.
  4. The student must be present when the permit is issued, as he/she has to sign it.

Between June 24 and July 31, 2025, students may bring their work permit applications to the District Office. Ms. Madrigal or Ms. Fuentes will be able to prepare work permits. Their offices are located on the 2nd Floor at 465 Main Street, St. Helena.

Permits issued during the school year expire five (5) days after the opening of the next succeeding school year and must be renewed if the student continues to work for the same employer.
